Zhou Yu began his artistic career at a very early age and spent almost every freemoment of his childhood experimenting with this artisticexpression. After a long period refining his craft, he graduated from the Beijing Central Academy of Art &Design 1987 with a Master's Degree in art. To further develophis skills, he studied and copied original paintings of old masters, most notable among them the meticulously planned and finely detailed works of Ingres. He instructed at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts during the nearly twenty years before he came to the United States, but here he has been afforded the opportunity to paint whathe loves without constraint. His labors to incisively, vividly and realistically depict a subject's soulfulattributes in his works. To date, he has painted more than thousand paintings in the United States. As you browse through his pages, you will be attracted by the vigorous nature of his works. His paintings reflect a carefully effected balance between objective reality and the manifold nature of his subjects' personalities captured in the timeless moment.
